The Run For Holiday House will take place
September 16, 2006. Having participated in the first run in 1982, I am
delighted to help celebrate it's "silver anniversary" and as it's race
director hope to bring some new and exciting elements to the event. One
of the biggest changes will be a partnership with the Virginia Sports
Hall of Fame.
The run
continues its partnership with the Portsmouth's Umoja Festival which
offers a weekend filled with music and food. As in years past, the race
will take place in Portsmouth's Olde Towne District and along
the waterfront and will remain a unique opportunity to have some fun,
help some kids, and enjoy the stunning architecture and history of one
of Virginia's oldest port cities. Remember to check out Portsmouth's Ntelos
Harbor Center and the town's restaurants and pubs which dot the
landscape in the historic district.
We are in the very early stages of working a
youth event into the race and hope to have the details available
shortly. As always, look for more music and entertainment, more great
prizes, and the traditional free lunch with the Knights of
Columbus as part of the post race fun. Be sure to mark your calendar and
join us for a wonderful event.
Please contact me for any information you may need regarding event
sponsorship. It's a great opportunity to be proactive in the our
community and spotlight your business, increase brand recognition, and
develop affiliations. (Remember, Holiday House serves children
from all regions of Virginia, not just Portsmouth!).
